Water, Water Everywhere ! I had no idea, that when I entered the hotel business I would become an expert in boilers, but as with much in life, the unexpected often becomes the norm. Indeed in recent years, the only constant seems to have been the unexpected – maybe I can get a degree in it (there seems to be degrees in everything else). This constant steam of unexpected and inexplicable events in my life have led to the recent knowledge of all things heating and hot water related, I do however feel that my education has been somewhat confused and bloomin expensive (I hope my children’s education doesn’t cost this much) The boiler house is full of water ! One of the boilers has split causing the water ! The metal in the water has caused the split ! The electrolysis created by the aluminium boilers has caused the metal in the water ! It was all fine though because all we needed to correct the problem was; Two new boilers The filter cleaned out Some water treatment The plate heat exchangers cleaned out The filter cleaned out A new pump The filter cleaned out Two more new boilers Some water treatment The filter cleaned out (not a lot in it now) Two more new boilers Stop I cried…………….there’s something wrong. Not our fault said the boiler manufacturer Not our fault said the installers Not our fault said the engineers I should have known – it’s my fault My new found ambition is to wrestle control of the light switch, for the light at the end of the tunnel from the sadistic half wit who currently has it.
