Art market launched by Dolphin Hotel SOUTHAMPTON’S innovative Dolphin Hotel is set to launch its next phase of development this weekend with the first Art Market in Dolphin Lane. The weekly Sunday Art Market will showcase the very best in painters, sculptors, musicians and performers as the hotel continues to pioneer a close relationship between hotel and the arts. Working with Southampton-based a space galleries hotel owner Bob Musker has been able to source some of the most inventive artists in the south to exhibit at the Art Market. Pete Benham from a space said painters will be creating art live in Dolphin Lane while buskers and artists perform to the visitors every Sunday afternoon from noon until 6pm. "The whole ethos of the Dolphin is to create something different and exciting in the arts world," said Mr Musker. "We already have innovative art in the hotel with our own gallery and a commission for 70 artists worldwide to create individual headboards for each of the rooms and the art market is the next step forward." Among the artists already signed up for the first Art Market on Sunday September 28 is Michelle Aburrow who is the current exhibitor in the hotel’s next step gallery. "The Dolphin has already proved a great showcase for my work and I’m really excited about painting live at the art markets," she said.
