What a girl wants - the answer is in Southampton
SMART women in Hampshire want to meet friends, have a drink, enjoy some retail therapy and be pampered.
But a new survey in the region reveals how much priorities change with the different age groups.
Students want their days and nights out to be dominated by cheap drinks, the 20-35 year olds are looking for somewhere to enjoy a girly chat, while the over 35s say that being pampered is their top priority.
The survey was commissioned by Southampton’s newest style bar, Fruit which is fast becoming the most talked-about place in the city for women to meet.
"When we planned Fruit we wanted to create somewhere classy to enjoy a glass of wine, a coffee and a slice of chocolate cake and this survey reinforces our belief," said Carol Laird who runs Fruit which is in the High Street, Southampton.
"There’s nowhere else like Fruit where you can collapse after a busy shopping trip or a long day at work on huge comfy sofas and enjoy a glass of Champagne for £4 and a chat with friends."
With the New Year shopping trips getting into full swing the survey results highlight Southampton’s strong position in providing the complete solution from almost 100 shops in WestQuay to the luxurious surroundings of Fruit.
Survey highlights
Women aged between 20-35 years old said their top priority in planning a night out was finding somewhere they could relax and chat to their friends.
Women in this age group rated luxurious surroundings as more important than cheap drinks.
Women aged 35 years and above say they would socialise more if they could be assured of somewhere quiet enough to talk to their friends.
Retail therapy scored highly with women in all age groups.
