Fruit & Blowzone collaborate on tranquility garden
 | |
| Work by Blowzone exhibited at Chelsea flower show | Fruit - the bar @ 34, High Street, Southampton |
Fruit the sexiest bar in Southampton has teamed up with ‘Blowzone’, the internationally renowned glass sculptors to create a new ‘tranquillity garden’ right in the heart of the city. The project is being sponsored by Arts & Business’ who have given a grant to create this unique space.
Owner of fruit - Bob Musker said ‘in the hustle & bustle of city life I wanted to create a space which would give time for reflection’ - the main sculpture will be made of glass with flowing water and Bob believes that this mixture will create a visual and audible interpretation of tranquillity.
Bob was helped in choosing the sculpture from a short list of 15 sculptors, by Kevin White - Southampton City’s Heritage Conservation Manager along with Daniel Crowe and Elizabeth Hodgeson of local arts organisation Aspace, who curate all the art in fruit, and Beryl Sharpe from Arts & Business.
The garden will be created over the next couple of months and customers are encouraged to watch the work in progress.
Fruit is situated at 34 High Street Southampton adjacent to the Dolphin Hotel, which itself has become a mecca for arts in the region.
Fruit is one of a new breed of privately owned bars which are springing up across the country, aiming to provide a stylish, luxuriant, safe environment as an alternative to the current branded offerings.
